Father’s Day Gift Idea: The Rolling Stones Confirm U.S. Tour

rolling stones, 50 & counting tour

After months of teasing fans, the Rolling Stones have finally announced another crop of performances on their “50 & Counting” tour. The nine-city North American trek kicks off early next month with a gig at the Staples Center in Los Angeles (the date is still pending, and will be determined based on how the NHL playoffs pan out); the Stones will then make stops in Oakland, San Jose, Las Vegas, Anaheim, Toronto, Chicago, Boston, and Philadelphia, before heading back to the U.K. to headline this year’s Glastonbury Festival on June 29. A July 6 show at London’s Hyde Park is also on the band’s docket.

Tickets for the Oakland, San Jose, Toronto, and Chicago shows go on sale on April 8 at 10 a.m., with pre-sale offers beginning on April 5 at 10 a.m. Sale dates for tickets to the other concerts have yet to be revealed. Prices haven’t been confirmed yet either, but devotees should prepare their bank accounts for a massive dent; tickets for last year’s brief run of “50 & Counting” performances — which featured guest appearances by Lady Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, the Black Keys, Florence Welch, and more — ranged from hundreds to thousands of dollars. Mick, Keith, Ronnie, and Charlie reportedly raked in more than $38 million from those five gigs. Sometimes you really do get what you need.

As SPIN noted previously, “concert business” sources have said that the Stones are planning 18 North American shows in total, meaning this batch of dates is only half of what the “Satisfaction” legends have in store for 2013.

“You kind of knew that it was bound to happen,” Keith Richards says in the tour’s announcement video, which can be seen down below. Dates and venue information follow.
