Black Lips Evoke Kimye in ‘Nightmare Field’ Video

Black Lips, "Nightmare Field," video

Black Lips’ brand of sozzled garage-rock lends itself well to old-fashioned rebellious imagery of motorcycles and greasers. That’s exactly what “Nightmare Field,” a bonus track from the Atlanta band’s new album Underneath the Rainbow, gets in its Bryan Bankovitch-directed video, which stars crew as “the Pink Angels.” The self-reflexive use of special-effects backdrops brng to mind Kanye West’s “Bound 2” video — clearly deliberately so in (spoiler-ish alert!) the final, romantic moments in front of the Eiffel. This comes as Black Llips’ Cole Alexander has been clarifying, somewhat, his recent inflammatory remarks about Lorde, Drake, and Macklemore.
