It’s a rare occasion that Nine Inch Nails make their way to television, but they did so last night in a big way, bringing a whole host of tracks from last year’s Hesitation Marks to Austin City Limits. This episode isn’t properly part of an ongoing ACL season (the 39th iteration ended back in February with a Kacey Musgraves-featuring episode), but instead serves to preview the long-running show’s 40th anniversary this fall. Trent Reznor notes early on that it’s not the typical NIN show, but tracks new and old are given their proper due on the ACL stage. It’s a pretty compelling advertisement, both for ACL‘s new season and for the band’s upcoming co-headlining tour with Soundgarden.
