Watch an Official Clip of Joan Jett and Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ Performance

Nirvana Joan Jett Smells Like Teen Spirit Video

On Thursday, we saw some brief pro footage of St. Vincent performing “Lithium” with Nirvana at last month’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. HBO is set to air the full three-hour special tonight, and they’ve shared a few more clips of the ceremony, including a minute of Joan Jett and Nirvana’s performance of “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear tear through the breakthrough track’s instrumental while Jett capably fills Cobain’s shoes offering some vocal grit and grime that belies her four decades of hard touring. We’ve already seen some fuzzy fan-shot footage of the performance, but HBO’s clip presents it in its full force. Here’s to hoping that the rumored professional footage of the after party surface too.

The network also shared brief clips of Kiss’ induction and an interview with Ace Frehley. You can catch those videos below and Jett’s performance above, thanks to Blabbermouth. The whole special will air Saturday night.
