Nile Rodgers Preaches Intemperance on Sprightly ‘Do What You Wanna Do’

Nile Rodgers Do What You Want To Do Charity Single Stream

Last year, after working with Daft Punk on Random Access Memories, Chic main man Nile Rodgers recorded a new solo single called “Do What You Wanna Do” in Ibiza, Spain. Now that track has finally surfaced after being auctioned off to benefit his We Are Family Foundation, the heady goals of which include inspiring “mutual respect, understanding, and appreciation of cultural diversity.” Cr2 Records, the label that won the auction, will release the single officially on August 10 to celebrate its own tenth anniversary.

Given its lyrical plea for intemperance and hedonism, “Do What You Want to Do” seems to be a pretty characteristic piece of aspirational disco from the funk legend. Watch the lyric video for the buoyant, glassy track above.
