Ariana Grande Teases Adult Themes With the Weeknd and Cashmere Cat

Ariana Grande Stream Weeknd Love Me Harder My Everything

Each child-star’s journey into adulthood is a unique thing — perhaps most often analogous to a snowflake that sees its first sunlight, melts down, and then shaves its head and/or starts twerking on things. So it’s with bated breath that we attend the debutante’s coming-out that is this forthcoming Ariana Grande album, My Everything, due Monday, August 25. She has already acknowledged that she’s physically visited by demons, and considering she’s poised for a big performance at the MTV VMA on Sunday, we can’t help think about last year’s belle of the ball, Miley Cyrus.

We have no idea what’s going to happen, but perhaps there’s something to be learned from the four new Grande songs below. With help from MTV, the 21-year-old Nickelodeon star now follows up “Bang Bang” and “Break Free,” and with help from the Weeknd, she gets downright nasty on “Love Me Harder.” Adult themes also abound on the (shockingly) Cashmere Cat-assisted “Be My Baby” and grown emotions on “A Little Bit of Your Heart” and “Why Try.”
