David Byrne and Arcade Fire Played Some Talking Heads Songs Together This Weekend

David Byrne dropped in on Arcade Fire’s Kanpe Kanaval benefit concert to perform some Talking Heads songs this past weekend in Montreal. Byrne joined Régine Chassagne, celebrity All Star MVP Win Butler, and the rest of the band for live renditions of “Road to Nowhere,” “Slippery People,” and “Naive Melody.” They closed with “I Bid You Goodnight,”  a cut from Byrne’s opera soundtrack The Knee Plays.

The annual Kanpe Kanaval event is a fundraiser for Kanpe, the Haitian charity co-founded by Chassagne. Chassagne’s parents emigrated from Haiti in the 1960s, and Caribbean heritage has long influenced the band’s music and philanthropy (and their Haitian restaurant).
