The Field Shares Lustrous Epic of a New Track, ‘Reflecting Lights’

Axel Willner is a master at subtlety. As the Field, the Berlin-based producer spins electronic odysseys that take as much time as they need and no less arriving at their destinations, whether driven by propulsion or gentle undulations. Take “Reflecting Lights,” the latest — and 14-minute! — listen off of his forthcoming LP, The Follower (out on April 1 via Kompakt), the follow-up to 2013’s Cupid’s Head. It’s not until the ten-minute mark that a sudden swell of melody comes, like a rip tide, spinning its woozy finish somewhere off into the galaxy. Listen below and be sure to check out live edits of “Pink Sun” and The Follower‘s title track, which Willner shared last month.
