Kid Cudi’s delayed sixth LP, Passion, Pain, & Demon Slayin’, is now scheduled for a December 16 release. The 19-track project was originally slated to drop on September 30, but Cudi announced just hours before the album’s release that it was being held up by sample clearance issues. A few days later, he took a sabbatical from promoting his album when he entered rehab to treat his depression. During his absence, the videos for album cuts “Frequency” and “Surfin'” (both directed by Cudi) made their way online.
Passion, Pain, & Demon Slayin’ is set to feature Willow Smith, Pharrell Williams, Travis Scott, and two guest spots from Kid Cudi fan André 3000. The new LP follows up last year’s Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven.
Cudi’s album is the latest in a strong December for left-of-center millennial hip-hop. Childish Gambino’s “Awaken, My Love!” officially drops this Friday, and iTunes lists J. Cole’s 4 Your Eyez Only for a December 9 release.
