U2 Announce The Joshua Tree 30th Anniversary Tour

U2 will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their most beloved album, 1987’s The Joshua Tree, with an international tour stretching from May to early August. On each of the dates, the band will play the album in full. Bono and the gang lent some weight to the announcement with a dramatic video trailer, which juxtaposes images of the long-haired, vest-and-hat-clad U2 of the late ’80s with the leather-jackets-with-crooked-zippers-wearing U2 of today, set to the strains of The Joshua Tree‘s big singles.

The band will be joined on all of their European dates in the summer by Noel Gallagher’s Flying Birds, and will be supported by either OneRepublic, Mumford and Sons, and The Lumineers at their dates in the U.S.

Tickets go on sale to the public of January 16 and 17, with a “Red Hill Group” presale (that is, one that is only open to U2.com subscribers) lasting from Jan 11-13. Watch the band’s trailer below, and see the full list of tour dates here.
